Cold Chain’s pre-qualified GTS product line met the exact size, time, and temperature requirements of a clinical trial outsourcing company. When asked to qualify a container to ship vaccines to doctor’s offices around the country, Cold Chain presented its KoolTemp GTS line, from small to extra large, pre-qualified for 2ºC to 8ºC, frozen, and room temperature. The fit was perfect.

Shipping vaccine from 2°C to 8ºC to doctors’ offices throughout the lower 48 states was a challenge for a clinical trial outsourcing company, sponsored by a major pharmaceutical company. A significant sum had been budgeted for qualification testing. Thanks to Cold Chain Technologies (CCT), that expenditure was eliminated, and a successful program is underway using CCT’s pre-qualified GTS line.

The exacting standards for qualification by the sponsor organization – a leading pharmaceutical company – were met by CCT’s GTS qualification testing protocol and documentation. The data met both the needs of the sponsor’s quality group and anticipated agency audits. To date, the outsourcing company has successfully completed two audits from the pharmaceutical company, including their downstream controls.

From small to extra large, the pre-qualified GTS line offers a range of sizes that facilitated efficient packaging solutions. Featuring universal packouts, the GTS products are environmentally safe, and contain no ozone-depleting chemicals. CCT maintains full inventory of these stock items.

The successful implementation of the GTS line in the lower 48 states has led to opportunities on a global scale. Working with a freight forwarder, CCT is now developing an efficient cold chain system to support each unique route within emerging markets.
